Do You Need Foot Orthotics or Arch Supports?

Do YOU need ”arch supports” from a shoe store, or custom foot orthotics from

a healthcare professional?

I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials to come in to your local shoe store for free arch support fitting. Maybe you went and shelled out the $$$ for one pair, or even more $$$$ for the whole set. What if I told you that fully customized foot orthotics made to a cast impression of YOUR foot by a licensed healthcare professional will cost the same as that one pair of off-the-shelf “arch supports” from that local shoe store? (Check the back of the arch support to find an imprinted letter or number). So do you even need “arch supports” or custom foot orthotics? Most shoes do not come with much arch support at all. If you have pain in your feet or toes with standing and walking, then you should consider having a biomechanical gait analysis by a healthcare professional. Pedorthotists, Podiatrists and even some Physical Therapists are trained to do just that. Maybe you just need better shoes that provide the right amount of support. There are so many options with footwear. It’s hard to know what shoe to buy. There are fashion sneakers that provide little support and just look cute. There are athletic shoes that are made to support your activity, whether it’s running, weight training, tennis or basketball. Be sure to invest in your feet with the right shoe, not just the one that matches your outfit. And check with a healthcare provider trained specifically in this area to guide you to the right shoe and the right arch support, or even a custom foot orthotic. Your feet will thank you.

Contact Sue at Align with Sue to see if foot orthotics or arch supports are right for you. We know feet.
